The humble sports cap has become a mainstay in thru-hiker packs for a reason - this plastic free flow sports cap allows for easy drinking on the go and can attach to any bottle with a 28mm thread, like our 28mm Vesica and Hydriams. Sold individually so there's no need to purchase a single use plastic bottle to grab one the next time yours gets lost or breaks.

Note: each purchase of a 28mm Vesica comes with a free sports cap

Features:

  • Sold as a single
  • ABS Plastic
  • Made in China

Not for backpacking

It is good idea but implementation is horrible for backpacking, or possibly for other purposes.

I have brought it with Vesica 1L for my JMT trekking. Just after a few days of use, a cap has broken off of a screw-in part. It's made out of hard plastic so that connector between cap and screw-in won't last very long. Non sensible design choice.

Once it is broken off, it's so easy to be pushed out when any good pressure is applied to the bottle. I really had to be careful not to lose it. Also, edges of the broken connector are very sharp. It is so easy to cut yourself if not very careful. Actually I have used a knife to modify it so that I won't cut myself on a trail.

It's good idea for cheap. But it is far from practical. I have been fan of Cnoc product because of their quality. But this product was very disappointing. I hope Cnoc can put out much improved version soon. I am sorry but I would not recommend this product to any backpacker before then.

Thanks for your reveiew. We're sorry to hear you're not a fan of the sports cap! To be clear, we don't manufacture or design these - they are functionally no different than the ones you will find on a single use water bottle and aren't meant to be exceedingly durable or long lasting. We offer these as a way to avoid buying multiple single use water bottles just for the caps as is common practice in long distance backpacking. It may not be the right product for everyone.

The cap is too loose

Because it's too loose. Although it can be fastened, when packed in a small bag, it's easily knocked open, and the water spills out completely. Because of this, I lost a Nitecore power bank.

Here's the translation to English:

Thank you for your review! We agree with your assesment here - we wouldn't recommend folks use these sports caps for storage inside a packed bag. We'd recommend storing with the caps our products come with in that case!

Solid idea- poor execution

Purchased five of these to try them out in Europe before some more serious adventuring in the US. Glad I tried before relying on them. They do not seal well, and there is a gap between the cap and the body of the nozzle. Additionally, the cap is fairly weakly secured, and the nozzle sustains sun damage fairly easily. Great idea, but needed better planning and execution. Since I am a fan of water bladders anyway, I will be sticking with regular caps on the extra plastic bottles I use to increase total carrying capacity.

Gram saving must have for Sawyer filters.

The factory cap on Sawyer Squeeze and micro leak, this fixes that with a sleeker appearance. This cap will be going on all my Sawyer filters.

This cap weighs 4.75g
Stock Sawyer 6.47g
The Sawyer cap uses a rubber washer that weighs 1g, this cap works much better without using the washer. While
