Protect Our Public Lands!

Thanks for purchasing from Cnoc Outdoors! Chances are, you plan to use this product on public lands - please be a responsible steward of your public lands when you do! Read on for a list of ways you can show your support to our public lands while you recreate.

Pack out trash - yours and others’:

Cuts to National Parks and Forest Service staffing means there’s less folks to do our dirty work. Bring an extra trash bag and carry out what you can.

Rethink fires:

Wildfire season becomes longer and more devastating every year. Human started fires are within our control - observe all red flag warnings and fire safety measures and speak out when you see others not doing the same.

Follow the seven LNT principles:

Visit lnt.org for more info on how to mitigate your impact on the lands you recreate on as much as possible.

Plan ahead:

Do your research to avoid putting yourself in a position where you may need emergency response staff - they are often stretched very thin.

Observe closures and permit limits:

Observe permitting requirements and accept closures and capacity limits to campgrounds, trails, and recreation areas that may arise - even if they aren’t being enforced

Volunteer:

With cuts to National Park and Forest Service staff, trail maintenance done by volunteers will be more important than ever. Find a local trail crew to you and get your hands dirty - here in the PNW, we love getting to work with Trailkeepers of Oregon, the Pacific Crest Trail Association, and the Washington Trails Association. If you can't volunteer, consider making a donation.

Most importantly, stay informed:

Bills that include policy and funding decisions impacting public lands are frequent and can seem hard to keep track of. We encourage you to do the work to stay informed and speak out when you disagree. We recommend 5calls.org as a tool for contacting your representatives.

We will cotinue to operate our business with our commitment to public lands in mind - from our 20% profit donation to outdoor and conservation non-profits, our work as a certified trail crew, and our continued vocal objection to the privatization of public lands.
