Team Spotlight - Devo

As part of our team spotlight, we will have each month a team member answering a few questions so you can get to know us a bit better.

This month we are focusing on Devo, our Assembler and Social Media Manager.

Who are you? Give us some highlights from your past

Hey my name is Devo, I’m a member of the Dry Creek Band of Pomo Indians out of Northern California. I grew up right here in Portland Oregon and have lived here all of my life! I attended Mt. Hood Community College where I studied Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education it was during a backpacking trip with some classmates that I learned about the wonders of the Vecto!

Tell us about a very memorable trip outdoors from the last few years

After I graduated Highschool I had the pleasure to take part in a backpacking course through Outward Bound. Me and 7 other strangers spent 3 weeks backpacking in the Northern Cascades. We learned simple navigation techniques, how to set up a tarp shelter and also just how to work together as a team to make sure everyone was enjoying their trip. This outing ultimately sparked my love for backpacking and sent me in the current career journey that I am on!

What do you do at CNOC?

When I first started at CNOC I was just in charge of Fabrication when it comes to our Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles! I now run that and I'm the Social Media Manager as well!

What is a running project you are working on at the moment that no one knows about yet?

I've been working with the team on building a pair of carbon fiber collapsible poles! Just like our old vertex poles that everyone loves but now with our nice locally sourced carbon fiber. We've even been playing around with 3D Printing some of the components for our prototypes!

What is your favorite kit that we make?

I am absolutely in love with our UL Mess Kit! Having a reusable food bag that is durable and reliable has been a blessing on the trail and on the slopes! I like to store the BUC in my jacket or in my bibs while the food is still cooking that way my food and my body stay nice and toasty while I'm either hiking or snowboarding.

What's an interesting (or not-so-interesting) non-Cnoc factoid about yourself that is important to who you are as a person?

I'm a big Sci-fi fan! When I'm not building poles or making content for our social media you can find me reading a nice book or watching some cheesy space show!

Thanks Devo!
